The club's name invites the comparison with the raffish Prince Hal, though the promise of a corresponding transformation to martial hero-king was aborted by Frederick’s early death. Image: An oil painting of a group of men seated around a table in a dimly-lit room. A bust of Henry V is over the fireplace. All of them wear powdered wigs and fashionable frock coats. The most prominent figure stands to the right of the table in a striking red silk suit. Prince Frederick appears in the doorway on the far right, peering around a curtain.
Frederick, Prince of Wales puts his head around a door and into a group portrait. This painting shows the ‘Henry V club’, one of several societies associated with Frederick, identifiable by the bust of Henry V over the fireplace.
